The department of Physics was established in 1970 to impart basic training in physics to the diploma and degree students.

The department conducts physics lectures for the first year degree and diploma students. It has laboratory facilities for limited testing of conductivities of materials, optical properties of materials and other areas of research.

The laboratories are equipped with He-Ne laser systems, optical communication kits and ultrasonic flow detectors.
