Diploma convocation for the students passed out in the academic year 2006-07 was held on 5th February 2008 in the quadrangle of the institute at 6.00 pm. Mr. S. Ramdorai, the chief executive officer & managing director TCS was the chief guest. As per the rituals the convocation started with invocation sharp at 6.00 pm. The chief guest, Mr. S. Ramdorai, expressed his pleasure to witness the special occasion "The Convocation". Addressing to the students he said it is a time when India has earned respect globally for its economic progress. He further said, the professionally qualified youth like you will decide the destiny of the country. Some of the areas of technology, he said, like nanotechnology, robotics and genetic engineering will have greater impact. The nanotechnology in future will encompass almost every field like medicine, sanitation, computers, consumer durables, heath care monitoring etc. Advancements in robotics will soon bring upon the age of machines which not only equal but surpass human intelligence. The genetic engineering is going to be of great use in medicine, industry and agriculture. He said, the well being of future generations depends upon a new breed of engineers who will develop and use sustainable technology and processes that will simultaneously support a healthy economy and healthy environment. Finally he said that there is no formula for happiness than job satisfaction, so he advised the students to take the work being their joy. He ended his speech giving best wishes. The director, Dr. K.G.Narayankhedkar in his convocation address, welcomed the gathering and at the outset he thanked the chief guest, Mr. S. Ramdorai, for his consent to be the chief guest for the convocation. The director expressed his gratefulness towards the institute Chairman Shri Nasli Wadia and BoG members for their guidance in carrying out his duties in development of the institute. Director in his report stressed on human resource development, academic activities, Training, Placement & Students' activities, Prizes, Awards & Scholarships. The final semester students passed in the year 2006-07 were awarded diploma certificates in the hands of the director of the institute, Dr. K. G.Narayankhedkar. Out of total 250 successful students 153 attended the convocation. After presentation of diplomas the medals were presented, in the hands of the chief guest, to the students who had exhibited outstanding performance. The medals & the medal winners are as under:
