The Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute VJTI) was given its present title on January 26, 1997. Founded in 1887, it was then known as Victoria Jubilee Technical Institute. The institute is reputed for excellent training in courses in engineering and technology at diploma, degree and post graduate levels over three thousand students.
The institute was granted financial and academic autonomy from June 21, 2004. Under the World Bank grant - TEQIP - the institute has several projects underway to establish itself as a world class technological institute. The modernization will offer excellent central computing facilities to students, who will also have access to improved laboratory and workshop facilities. Our educational programs are carefully designed to:

• Providing academic freedom to acquire specialized knowledge, skills and attitudes
• Inculcate in students skills for innovation and creativity
The dedicated faculty and the supporting staff, the pillars of strength, combined with vibrant and talented student community with human values certainly make VJTI as the Institute of National importance.
VJTI of my dream will be a Research Institute with Strong Undergraduate/ Graduate Programmes and thus excels in education, Research, Innovations and Management of Technology and becomes a frontrunner in the cutting technologies. I am confident that with the whole hearted support and co-operation of the teaching as well as non-teaching staff and students the dream will soon be realized.
